The robot

 Introduction

The Fribotte team participated to the French Robotics Cup 2000. The aim of this page was to give a presentation of our robot's progress for the year 2000 competition as the work proceeds and presents what we did during the competition.
You will find there the remarks we had and the technical choices we made, as well as images of prototypes and the details of their creation.

Some of the questions we are frequently asked are answered in the FAQ.

Some technical details are developped in the Fribotte technical database that we encourage you to refer to. This database presents also the robots or parts of robots we have been building since the year 2000.

Don't hesitate to make your remarks on what we wrote in our Forum.

 History of the progress
The robot on October the 1st 1999

First team meeting after the rules is published. The general outline of the robot is decided. The robot will have 2 modules : the carrousel, where smaller modules will take place : the MIO = mobile or immobile objects.

Some technical choices : the intelligence will be made by PICs and 68HC11, the balloons will be blown up thanks to a hot spot which has to be defined.

For more details see the page : The robot on October the 1st 1999.
The robot on November the 20th 1999

After one month and a half of hard word and more than 2500 emails (!) here is what we have done :

  • Carrousel : determination of its caracteristics
  • MIOs : Choice of the wheels, the batteries, the frame
  • Hot spot : tests with transistors and resistive wire
  • Sensors : test of line sensors and nearness sensors
For more details see the page : The robot on November the 20th 1999.
  The proposal form
Our proposal form is at last filled in. You will find in the previous link what we sent to the ANSTJ.
